How to Lower High Creatinine Levels Through Diet

Diet plays a very important role in lowering creatinine levels. There are some advice for patients to lower creatinine levels.

Sodium



We need sodium, but most of us consume far more than we need. Avoid foods with added salt, including nuts, bacon, pickles, olives, sauerkraut and luncheon meats. Watch out for salt in processed food products including canned soup, canned vegetables, sauce mixes and bouillon cubes. Carefully monitor the amount of sodium you consume. Controlling your salt intake may also make it easier for you to control your fluid intake.

Adjust protein intake

For patients living with high creatinine level caused by kidney disease, they need to adjust their proper intake. If they have not start dialysis, they generally need to limit protein intake and this need them to stay far away from high protein foods like bean and bean products. However, if they have started dialysis, much more protein will be needed everyday.

High potassium foods

With high creatinine level, kidney disease patients generally need to avoid high potassium foods like banana, spinach, avocados, and white mushrooms and so on.

High phosphorus foods

Patients having high creatinine level resulted from kidney disease should not eat high phosphorus foods like cheese, toasted wheat germ, roasted soybean and bacon and so on.

More Vitamin

Patients with high creatinine should eat more vegetables and fruit rich in vitamin A,B2,and C.


Diet is very important, but the treatment is more important. Patients with high creatinine level should have a good treatment which would treat the disease at root.
