Two diet tips for patients with diabetic nephropathy

Daily diet is very important for patients with diabetic nephropathy, and it plays an important role in adjuvant treatment. Also most diabetic nephropathy patients have complication of hypertension. Following are two diet tips for patients with diabetic nephropathy.

The first is to avoid taking in foods rich in sugar.


Diabetic nephropathy patients should avoid eating foods high in sugar. These foods include soft drink, candy, pastry and sugar cans. But they could take in a small amount of sugar or sugar substitutes. Meanwhile, patients should also take in food containing starch as the chief source of heat. They should not eat foods high in sugar and cholesterol, and they could be substituted by a small amount of vegetable oil.


The second is to increase cellulose in diet. 

Patients with diabetic nephropathy should pay attention to increase cellulose in daily diet, which mainly comes from vegetables. But they should choose proper cooking method so as to reduce content of potassium. Patients with high blood phosphorus should limit intake of whole grains, such as oatmeal and breakfast cereal. It is better for them to choose fruits not rich in potassium. Patients with high blood fat are suggested to have dishes cooked in less oil, such as steamed, stewed or boiled foods.

Diabetic nephropathy is not terrible, as long as we develop good lifestyle in daily life, we could control our body in good condition.
